About me

Jose Ferreira-Cayuela is Senior Lecturer and Programme Director in Spanish & Latin American Studies at the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at the University of Stirling. He is also currently external examiner for the Spanish programmes at the Open University and Northumbria University. He graduated in Filología Inglesa at the University of Granada (Spain), where he also got his MA equivalent in Applied Linguistics and Language Teaching Methodology after completing a course on Spanish as a Foreign Language Teaching Methodology by the International University of Andalucía-Seville. Jose is also Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. At the University of Stirling, Jose teaches Spanish grammar, translation, written language and conversation to all level of undergraduates. At postgraduate level, he has participated in the past in the teaching of the MRes in Translation Studies (Spanish) and has supervised dissertations for the MRes in Translation and the MRes Translation and TESOL. In addition to this, Jose also coordinates the Study/Work Abroad programme for our students going to Spain or Latin America either as part of our own exchanges with partner universities or as English Language Assistants for the British Council, and has been a visiting lecturer in a number of Spanish Universities (Granada, Córdoba, Pablo Olavide-Seville, among others).
His research interest are: affective factors in language learning (motivation/amotivation) and the impact of technology in language learning. José has participated in International Conferences like ASELE (International Association of Spanish as a foreign language), EUROCALL and New Trends in Language Teaching, and he has also represented the University of Stirling in the Scottish Academic Leadership Programme run by Advance HE.
