About me

My current research and educational interests are captured in the theme of health care quality improvement. My interest in improving health care quality has been built on a diverse clinical background in nursing, project management experience aiming to reduce error in clinical skills, and a co-ordinating role for safety, governance and risk within the NHS.

Research (1)

I am currently conducting a PhD by publication. My collections of studies are aiming to explore ways of measuring the patients' perspective of hospital quality of care which are fit for purpose. I have utilised a range of methods - integrative review, systematic review, retrospective care matched review and a cross sectional survey. I have used both qualitative and quantitative date, including psychometrics for instrument critique.

ADPP99 Quality Improvement Dissertation

This dissertation module enables students to devise and deliver a QI project within their area of work, whilst enabling them to analyse and critique the theoretical concepts of QI. To date, students have produced some excellent projects, which have led to system changes within their wider health board areas.

ADPP12 Quality Improvement Projects in Health and Social Care

This online module forms part of the MSc in Advanced Practice. The course offers practitioners and managers in health care the opportunity to ‘make an improvement’ in practice whilst studying at masters level. The assignment clearly links the theoretical concepts of quality improvement with practice.

NMHU8AD/MH Delivering Health Care

This module aims to prepare students for the complexity of modern health care. The module focuses on assimilation of knowledge from all previous adult and mental health modules. Key topic areas are QI, leadership, and management of care.
